Long referred to as \"Sassandra masks\", it was also used by the Bakw\u00e9, the Godi\u00e9 and the N\u00e8yo, belonging to the Krou group and established in the Bas-Sassandra region around the towns of Soubr\u00e9, San Pedro, Fresco and Sassandra.<\/p>\n<p>This ancient mask is believed to represent nature or forest spirits. Its use today is primarily secular, linked to group entertainment and funerals. This mask has a distinctive feature: a profusion of eyes and blue pigments on the face.
