Description
Dance mask from western Ivory Coast. A powerful and primal force emanates from this work. This is the primary purpose of these masks: to create fear and terror. In the event of conflict between clans, these masks appear.
They can resolve conflicts without bloodshed or the honor of any clan being tarnished. This mask has a harsh expression, a piercing gaze, and a menacing, slightly open mouth. It bares its teeth. The forms are skillfully rendered and typical of masks from the Wè culture.
