The Krans are a subgroup of the Dan. They live in Liberia.

This mask, called Kagle, is said to represent a chimpanzee whose strength and malice are assets in warfare or social control. Used in dances with aggressive movements, this mask symbolizes the force of nature and is associated with troublemakers. Its exaggerated and grotesque features include a trunk-shaped forehead, triangular eyes, prominent cheekbones, a triangular nose, and a mouth shaped like an elephant's trunk. The mask presents a striking contrast between the angular lines and the rounded shape of the mouth and forehead.
